
This year, Molo circle initiated an initiative to establish alternative economy as well carried out joint event as traditional solidarity movement in keeping customary symbols.
In the learning cycles, it was found that a customary symbol are shared among three tribes of Tiga Batu Tungku (Molo, Amanatun, and Amanuban) in South Timor Tengah, East Nusa Tenggara, which is Lopo, their traditional meeting house/hall. It then used as a symbol of union on Molo Festival held in August 2010.
The Ningkam Haumeni festival held yearly by Mollo, Amanuban and Amanatun peoples to commemorate their struggle against marble mining and as media campaign asserting that their sacral area will always be protected. Not only that, the process is also facilitate the learning cycles and the growing of solidarity through knowing and keeping update of each members struggle, failure and successful stories in the resistance.
The festival also asserted to outsider, government, and public that they are refusing any extractive and destructive economy that threat their customary community and the sustainability of the ecosystem functions. They chose local economy strengthening that will guarantee food availability and keep alive traditional values. Next festival material will be enriched more than woven fabric and lopo, but will include food sovereignty concept with corn as their staple food. The second festival will be held at Molo, but the next are expected to take turn at Amanuban and Amanatun.
